When is it time to build a new website? Since I founded West Hills Web back in 2001, we have helped businesses and organizations in Southern California and across the country get found online, establish credibility, and make sales. Way back then, having an online presence was just a novelty, but I knew that the value and importance to business of building a new website would steadily increase.
We helped early adopters understand what they would need when they build a new website so that they could make sales then and far into the future. From the beginning, West Hills Web focused on excellent design, quality content, and building new websites that represented our clients, but that also appealed to their most important customers.
There are still new companies being formed all the time, and they all need new websites, whether it’s a simple business presence, an e-commerce site, a web-based application, an online learning site or something else. However, our business transitioned from mainly developing sites for new businesses to replacing websites for established companies. These clients’ motivations for needing a new website were pretty consistent, including outdated design, lack of mobile responsiveness, outdated content, high costs to maintain old code, and company rebranding.
And as we built and rebuilt so many websites for our clients, something occurred to us…
We Needed To Build A New Website
for Ourselves
Our last major update to our website was in 2018, and in 2024 our site no longer reflected our business’ capabilities, focus and direction. Since the previous changes to our website, West Hills Web has developed extensive capabilities in Website ADA Compliance, website privacy and data security compliance, significantly enhanced its design capabilities (technically and graphically), and continually improved the quality of content and imagery provided to clients.
Like shoes for the cobbler’s family, our website was out of date and needed to be rebuilt.
My team and I realized that while in the process of helping our clients, our own website no longer accurately reflected our business. We recommend to our clients that they update their sites with new content continually and redesign their website every 3 to 4 years.
Our prior website was already 5 years old, but if we were to continue building innovative websites for our clients, we needed to lead by example and build our own new site.
Our New West Hills Web Website
Our new website reflects our dedication to creating websites that get noticed and produce traffic, leads and sales. And we’re upfront about letting people know their “current website might suck.” We aren’t being rude with that approach – we want to capture the attention of people who need a new website and start a conversation about what it takes to succeed online.
Based on years of successful website builds, we’ve learned that most of our clients’ websites lack one or more of the following items.
- Stunning Design
- SEO optimization
- Effective conversion of site visitors into leads and then sales
- Mobile responsiveness, so sites display equally well on mobile devices and PCs
- Continually updated content that reflects the current business
- ADA compliance
- Data and privacy compliance requirements
We’ve taken our own advice serious for what you need in a new website and built a new website that satisfies all of our recommendations for businesses and organizations looking for online success.
